What is Paint Protection Film?

Paint Protection Film, or PPF, is a durable protective film applied over selected exterior surfaces to help defend them against everyday road damage. On a caravan, PPF acts like a transparent shield between the road and the surface underneath.

When your caravan is being towed, the front and lower sections are constantly exposed to stones, grit, sand, insects, road grime and loose debris. When off road, the sides of the caravan can also constantly rub up against branches. Over time, these hazards can mark, chip, stain or wear down the finish. OptiVAN PPF helps reduce that damage by placing a durable film layer over the areas most likely to be affected.

How it works

Impact protection: PPF helps reduce the chance of direct impact damage from stones, grit and road debris.
Surface defence: PPF helps protect against light scratches, scuffs, branch marks, rub marks, bug splatter, road grime and general wear.

Gloss Matte/Satin Clear Defence Window Clear/Tinted

Gloss PPF

OptiVAN’s Gloss PPF is a high-gloss, ultra-clear film designed to maintain the original glossy appearance of suitable exterior surfaces.

It is ideal for caravans, campers, RVs and motorhomes with gloss painted, reflective, shiny or high-clarity exterior finishes where the owner wants the surface to keep its original polished look.

Once professionally applied, Gloss PPF is nearly invisible on suitable gloss surfaces and can enhance the visual depth, clarity and shine of the finish underneath.

Gloss PPF may also be used on selected matte or satin surfaces where the owner wants to change the appearance to a glossier finish, subject to surface suitability and professional assessment.

Matte/Satin

OptiVAN’s Matte / Satin PPF is designed for surfaces with a matte, satin or low-sheen appearance.

It is used when the owner wants to maintain a non-gloss finish rather than adding shine. This is important because applying gloss film over a matte or satin surface can change the appearance and make it look shiny.

Matte / Satin PPF can help preserve the original low-reflective look of suitable matte or satin surfaces.

It may also be used on selected gloss surfaces where the owner wants to create a matte or satin appearance, subject to surface suitability and professional assessment.

Clear Defence

OptiVAN Clear Defence PPF is our thickest and most durable clear film option, designed for owners who want an even stronger level of protection while still maintaining the original appearance of the surface underneath.

It is an optically clear, transparent film and is thicker than the standard Gloss PPF and Matte / Satin PPF options. This makes it ideal for owners who want a more robust film without intentionally changing the surface to a glossier, matte or satin appearance.

Unlike Gloss PPF, which is designed to enhance shine, or Matte / Satin PPF, which is designed to preserve or create a low-sheen appearance, Clear Defence PPF is focused on maintaining a clear visual finish as close as possible to the original surface.

It is suited to caravans, campers, RVs and motorhomes where the owner wants maximum clear film durability with minimal visual change.

The final appearance will depend on the surface type, colour, condition, finish and professional installation.

Window PPF Clear/Tinted

OptiVAN Window PPF is a protective film designed for suitable caravan, camper, RV and motorhome window surfaces, including glass, perspex and see-through rigid plastic windows.

It adds a protective layer over exposed transparent surfaces to help reduce light scratches, scuffs, dust marks, branch marks, road debris impact, campsite wear and cleaning marks. This is especially useful for caravan windows, which are often exposed while towing, travelling, parking, cleaning and setting up at campsites.

OptiVAN Window PPF is available in clear and tinted options.

Clear Window PPF is designed for owners who want added window surface protection with minimal visual change. It helps maintain the original look and clarity of the window while adding an extra layer of defence.

Tinted Window PPF adds window surface protection while also creating a darker, more styled appearance. Depending on the selected film and window suitability, the tinted option may also assist with additional UV reduction, glare reduction, privacy and visual comfort inside the caravan, camper, RV or motorhome.

The final result will depend on the window material, condition, shape, tint level, film selection and professional installation. Window suitability should always be assessed before application.

OptiVAN PPF vs OptiVAN Graphene Ceramic

OptiVAN Graphene Ceramic Surface Protection and OptiVAN Paint Protection Film are both designed to protect caravans, campers, RVs and motorhomes, but they protect in different ways.

OptiVAN Graphene Ceramic Surface Protection is a liquid-applied protective treatment that bonds to suitable treated surfaces. It is designed to help protect against environmental contamination, UV exposure, oxidation, fading, staining, road grime, red dust, bug splatter, bird and bat droppings, salt build-up, mineral build-up and everyday touring exposure.

OptiVAN PPF is a physical protective film applied to selected exterior areas. It is designed to help protect high-impact and high-contact zones from stone chips, road debris, gravel, light scratches, scuffs, branch marks, cleaning marks and general impact-related wear.

In simple terms, Graphene Ceramic helps enhance and protect the surface from environmental exposure, while PPF helps protect the surface from physical impact.
